Mr. Evenchick is a 1960 graduate of Rutgers University and a 1963 graduate of the Rutgers University School of Law. He served as chief of the appellate section of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office from 1965 to 1968. He was administrative assistant to the President of the New Jersey Board of Public Utility Commissioners from 1968 to 1970. He also served as deputy attorney general and chief of the appellate section of the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice from 1970 to 1972. He was municipal attorney of the Township of Livingston, New Jersey from 1975 to 1987. He has served as a member of the Supreme Court Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure. He has been a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Extrajudicial Activities since 2007. He served as chairman of the Motor Vehicle Study Commission for the State of New Jersey from 1974 to 1986. He has served as counsel for the National Advisory Committee on Criminal Justice, Standards and Goals and was a member of the Governor's Advisory Committee for Implementation of the Penal Code. He has also served on the Supreme Court Task Force on Speedy Trials and the Supreme Court Special Committee on Criminal Appeals. He was a member of the New Jersey State Commission of Investigation from 1987 to 1993. He has been a New Jersey member of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws since 1981 and serves as chair of the New Jersey delegation. He is vice-chair of the editorial board of the New Jersey Law Journal. Mr. Evenchick was appointed to the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor by Governor Jon Corzine on August 17, 2009. He is a member of the New Jersey State, Federal and American Bar Associations. He is also a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He is an adjunct faculty member at Rutgers Law School in Newark and, most recently, has taught municipal law and appellate advocacy. He was elected to membership in the American Law Institute in 1998. His practice focuses on litigation - civil and criminal; appellate - civil and criminal; employment; and zoning and planning.
