Mr. Plaisted has been involved in various noteworthy cases at all levels of federal and state courts, which include Christiania Insurance Co. v. Great America Insurance Co., 979 F.2d 268 (2d Cir. 1992); United States v. A Parcel of Land, Bldgs., known as 92 Buena Vista Ave., Rumson, N.J., 113 S.Ct. 1126, 122 L.Ed.2d 469, 61 USLW 4189 (Feb. 24, 1993); DeVesa v. Dorsey, 134 N.J. 420, 634 A.2d 493 (1993), State v. XYZ Corp., 119 N.J. 416, 575 A.2d 423, 59 USLW 2071 (1990); Kopin v. Orange Products, 297 N.J. Super. 353 certif. den., 149 N.J. 409 (1997); Racing Commission v. LaPoff, 95 N.J.A.R. 2d 22 (1995) 1995 WL 324553 (N.J. Admin.); and United States v. Musto, 540 F.Supp. 318 and 540 F. Supp. 346 (D.N.J. 1982). He graduated at the top of his law school class at Washington University Law School, was an editor of the Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He did securities work in New York and then joined the U. S. Attorney's Office in New Jersey, where he was Chief of the Fraud and Public Protection Division, 1979-1983. He served as the President of Rutgers University Law School's Willard Heckel Inn of Court from 1997 to 1999 and was a Master and Chairman of its Program Committee from 1991 to 1997. He was a lecturer, Civil and Criminal Trial Advocacy, U.S. Justice Department Advocacy Institute, 1978-1982. He has received the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award from the New Jersey State Bar Association, 1983 and the Department of Justice Outstanding Professional Achievement Awards in 1979 and 1982. He has been recognized in New Jersey Monthly magazine's "Super Lawyers" in 2005 thru 2012. He is a Member of the Essex County, New Jersey State, and American Bar Associations, and the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey, and is presently a Trustee of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey. He has been certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, Board on Trial Attorney Certification for both civil and criminal trials.
